Wordless Wednesday: The Birks of Aberfeldy

Thank you so much for your good wishes before we went on our short break. We enjoyed some lovely walks, despite the wild weather.

This lovely sculpture of Scottish poet Robert Burns is placed near the ledge where he sat and wrote the song lyrics for The Birks of Aberfeldy in 1787. Sitting next to him on the bench for a wee while, it is easy to see how the place inspired him.

It was lovely to see peacock butterflies and green-veined whites feeding on the last of the scabiosa (pincushion flower).

We are taking a short blogging break and will be back on Wednesday 4th October 2023.
