The cygnets are nine months old now and the extreme weather is likely to keep them on the river a little longer. Their parents are still happy to have them here and so are we.

Thank you so much for your kind words dear Laurie 💜 The swans go out to sea and when they’re ready to fledge, the parents will encourage the cygnets to join a flock of juveniles further along the coast. They usually stay in a flock with other juveniles until they’re old enough to find a mate with whom they’ll choose a nesting site to start their own family.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Lisa, the bottom swan has done especially well under the circumstances. One of the last ones to hatch and a late developer, he’s thankfully still with us and growing his white feathers too 💛
