Wordless Wednesday: Solstice Sunset

After a few overcast days, the sunset of our shortest day was filled with light and made for a scintillating Winter Solstice.

We are now taking a short blogging break and will be back on Wednesday 29th December 2021.

Wishing you all a blessed week and for those of you who celebrate, a blessed Christmas too!

Silent Sunday: Forks in the Road

barricades with sand bags blocking the coastal path beside a wild sea
big waves on the Moray Firth seen from the shore

These images were taken a day after Storm Arwen when some of the roads and paths were still closed for safety reasons.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends further east and everyone else who has been affected.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday and may you all stay safe,

It was lovely to see more Brent geese coming in to land and join the rest of the flock that were featured in last week’s post Graceful Geese.

Wordless Wednesday: Basking Beauty

We were treated to a rare visit by basking sharks yesterday who came to feed on the plankton in the Moray Firth before starting their long migration to warmer climes.

They were swimming and feeding close to paddle boarders, kayaks and sailing boats and the people aboard featured in many of my photographs as a result.

If you recognise yourself in the image above or the slideshow below please get in touch through the contact form and I’ll be happy to send you a copy of the photograph.

We were watching from the shore and it was lovely to see these gentle giants.
