It is the first time we have seen two pond cygnets this year and they are looking well, albeit less muscular than the seven river cygnets.
It is lovely to meet them as last year we did not see any cygnets on the pond.

Sweet family… do they migrate in the fall?

Thank you kindly dear Eliza 💚 These mute swans aren’t migratory and when the cygnets fledge they will join a nearby flock until they are ready to find a mate and build their own nest. The pen currently nesting on the river was born there herself (around five years ago) and returned after her mother’s passing 🧡 xxx

I love to see these pond swans and the cygnet. Our small lake now has 5 swans and the original pair have their two cygnets who are looking quite big but still grey. We are not sure who the other swans are and why they have appeared. Perhaps they are all gathering, as the Canada geese do, to prepare for migration.

Ours are not gathering too closely. there is the original pair and their two cygnets and then the others are in separate pairings.
