As sleet mingles with snow, we find ourselves in a new national lockdown. To protect ourselves, to protect each other, we want to do the right thing. We stay at home once more, create our own rituals in the lull between storms.

We had a faint aurora on Friday night, visible with the naked eye, and the hand-held taken photographs with a low shutter speed created an almost abstract effect.
The poem was written three months ago and we’re hoping to start easing out of lockdown in mid-April.
Wishing you all a blessed Sunday and a peaceful week ahead,
with love from Xenia xxx

Beautiful words and images! So very sorry you are back in lockdown again. It seems as though the end is in sight, but no doubt there will be bumps, some of them big, along the way. Hugs from Maine.

Thank you so much for your kind words dear Laurie. We’ve been in lockdown since Boxing Day (when I wrote this poem) and we’re looking forward to a gradual easing of restrictions from mid-April onwards 💖 xxx

Lovely prose accompanying beautiful images of a gorgeous evening Xenia. The images seem like abstract art.

I would love to see the aurora borealis, but even when it rarely extends this far south, I’ve never managed to see it. I read that March and Sept. are the best months for it. I’m glad you clarified the date of lockdown, I was dismayed to think you were under renewed orders! Are you getting vaccinated? (I’m not yet eligible.)

Thank you so much for your kind words dear Eliza, March and September can be good for auroras on cloud-free nights and the most spectacular one we’ve seen so far was on New Year’s eve 2015 with the full size dancing curtains 💚 We are supposed to get vaccinated by the middle of May – I hope you will be able to get yours soon too! 🍀 xxx

Amazing images of the northern lights. I hear you about the lockdown. We are in and out of the revolving lockdown door and then into some colored zones that are meaningless to me. Have a good week locked down or not!

I like your poem but I’m sorry to read that your in lockdown. I’m happy that my parents and I both have both our shots and my husband has his first. We’ll still be taking precautions, though. Stay healthy!

The 1st 2 lines really got to me, Xenia. The image of you and I both lighting candles on our respective beaches. Separate but together. Alone, but not lonely. I feel a warmth growing.

Over here in my country, situation is once again getting off the track and smart lockdown has been imposed in several parts. Hoping and taking care once again.
