Silent Sunday: A Lovely Surprise

We are delighted to see seven cygnets have hatched by the pond and are lovingly cared for by their parents.

The eggs from the river swans didn’t hatch this year. The pen and cob have been mating again last week and there is a very small chance of more eggs to come.

In 2017 their eggs didn’t hatch either and they fostered a cygnet from another swan family. We will share photographs of the river swans throughout the year and follow the progress of the pond cygnets as they grow older.

Wishing you all a magical Sunday,

with love from Xenia xxx

  1. That’s fantastic, Xenia 💕🦢They’re gorgeous. Shame about the river swans though. There were a pair of swans on the river when we went to Stratford with a little brood. Photos to come soon 🤗 Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend xxx

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Cathy 💜 We’re not sure what happened with the river swans and it may be that age is catching up or the late cold spell in the weather played a part. Their nest is a lot more exposed than the nest in the woodland pond. It’s rare for swans to lay a second clutch of eggs within a season even though they were mating again. I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures from the Stratford brood and hope you’re having a wonderful weekend too! Much love to you and Finn from all of us here 🤗💖🐕 xxx

  2. What a lovely, tender capture…seven cygnets (!), I’ve never seen a swan with that many before…I love how the odd pair of Canada Geese in our lagoon often become the caregivers of 50 or more goslings…it warms my heart to see love in action!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words dear Kim, it’s lovely to see how they care for the young 💜 The ducks always care for orphaned ducklings too 🙂💖🦆 xxx
