Haibun: Snapdragon Moon

macro shot of a raindrop hanging from pink and yellow snapdragon

The early morning drizzle is full of promise. Scorched fields of grass and droopy gardens sigh with relief when the promise turns to rain. After a heatwave and hose-ban to preserve diminishing pools of water flowers raise their heads in gratitude, singing full of colour.

      1. I hope so, too. Been doing a lot of hand watering to plants that really need it. The lawn, on the other hand, is always left to its own devices, and it does just fine without any help from us.

  1. What a stunningly vibrant snapdragon, Xenia! The image is gorgeous and your haibun is too. 🙂 I;m glad you’ve been able to cool down with some drizzle and the snapdragon has had a drink. What a wonderful sound that sigh of relief must be when it comes!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words Kim, it was a wonderful sigh of relief! We could still do with more rain – it has been one long hot Summer :o) xxx

  2. I loved title, and perfection in the image. Your macro & tight haibun rolled off the page smoothly, like the drop of dew on the snapdragon. Here in the Pac NW. we could use some rain too.

  3. Oh my Xenia. This is outstanding. the photo is gorgeous but the haibun and most of all, the haiku are spectacular. We are used to hot weather over here. The grass turns brown and the leaves wilt in the heat. But I am glad you and the pups had some rain to enjoy and hopefully cool things off. Hugs to all three of you.
